【摘要】:ThispracticeisusedtodeterminetheLRofspecifiedglasstypesandconstructionsexposedtouniformlateralloads.Useofthispracticeassumes:Theglassisfreeofedgedamageandisproperlyglazed,Theglasshasnotbeensubjectedtoabuse,Thesurfaceconditionoftheglassistypicalofglassthathasbeeninserviceforseveralyears,andisweakerthanfreshlymanufacturedglassduetominorabrasionsonexposedsurfaces,Theglassedgesupportsystemissufficientlystifftolimitthelateraldeflectionsofthesupportedglassedgestonomorethan1/175oftheirlengths.Thespecifieddesignloadshallbeusedforthiscalculation.Thecenterofglassdeflectionwillnotresultinlossofedgesupport.Note18212;Thispracticedoesnotaddressaestheticissuescausedbyglassdeflection.Manyotherfactorsshallbeconsideredinglasstypeandthicknessselection.Thesefactorsincludebutarenotlimitedto:thermalstresses,spontaneousbreakageoftemperedglass,theeffectsofwindbornedebris,excessivedeflections,behaviorofglassfragmentsafterbreakage,seismiceffects,heatflow,edgebite,noiseabatement,potentialpost-breakageconsequences,andsoforth.Inaddition,considerationssetforthinbuildingcodesalongwithcriteriapresentedinsafetyglazingstandardsandsitespecificconcernsmaycontroltheultimateglasstypeandthicknessselection.Forsituationsnotspecificallyaddressedinthisstandard,thedesignprofessionalshalluseengineeringanalysisandjudgmenttodeterminetheLRofglassinbuildings.1.1Thispracticedescribesprocedurestodeterminetheloadresistance(LR)ofspecifiedglasstypes,includingcombinationsofglasstypesusedinasealedinsulatingglass(IG)unit,exposedtoauniformlateralloadofshortorlongduration,foraspecifiedprobabilityofbreakage.1.2Thispracticeappliestoverticalandslopedglazinginbuildingsforwhichthespecifieddesignloadsconsistofwindload,snowloadandself-weightwithatotalcombinedmagnitudelessthanorequalto10kPa(210psf).Thispracticeshallnotapplytootherapplicationsincluding,butnotlimitedto,balustrades,glassfloorpanels,aquariums,structuralglassmembers,andglassshelves.1.3Thispracticeappliesonlytomonolithic,laminated,orinsulatingglassconstructionsofrectangularshapewithcontinuouslateralsupportalongone,two,three,orfouredges.Thispracticeassumesthat(1)thesupportedglassedgesfortwo,three,andfour-sidedsupportconditionsaresimplysupportedandfreetoslipinplane;(2)glasssupportedontwosidesactsasasimplysupportedbeam;and(3)glasssupportedononesideactsasacantilever.1.4Thispracticedoesnotapplytoanyformofwired,patterned,etched,sandblasted,drilled,notched,orgroovedglasswithsurfaceandedgetreatmentsthataltertheglassstrength.1.5Thispracticeaddressesonlythedeterminationoftheresistanceofglasstouniformlateralloads.Thefinalthicknessandtypeofglassselectedalsodependsuponavarietyofotherfactors(see5.3).1.6Chartsinthispracticeprovideameanstodetermineapproximatemaximumlateralglassdeflection.AppendixX1andAppendixX2provideadditionalprocedurestodeterminemaximumlateraldeflectionforglasssimplysupportedonfoursides.AppendixX3presentsaproceduretocomputeapproximateprobabilityofbreakageforannealed(AN)monolithicglasslitessimplysupportedonfoursides.1.7ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparentheses......
